Loch Duart, the Hebrides and Sutherland based salmon farming business, has been named Regional Growth Business for Scotland & Northern Ireland at the Food and Drink Federation Awards 2017.
On an amazing night for the innovative Loch Duart team, they were presented with the award at The Brewery in London in front of 500 guests by host, Hardeep Singh Kohli, broadcaster, writer, comedian and, of course, keen foodie and restaurateur.
In an exceptional year for the business, winning the Regional Growth is evidence of Loch Duart’s successful strategy to grow its exports and reach markets and consumers across the globe. This has been Loch Duart’s most successful year of operations since the business was established in 1999 and winning this award reflects this.
Alban Denton, Managing Director of Loch Duart, said:
“This really has been an amazing year for the world class team at Loch Duart and to win Regional Growth Business for Scotland & Northern Ireland is a massive accolade.
“Over the last two years we have taken the business of producing our extraordinary tasting salmon to new levels by focussing on fish welfare, innovation, staff development and building our global export networks.
“We recognise that having even been included alongside some of the UK’s best food and drink businesses is an honour in itself, so this win means a lot to Loch Duart. I’d like to thank each and every one of the Loch Duart team. This one’s for you!”
Ian Wright CBE, Director General of the Food and Drink Federation, said:
“It is a real pleasure to recognise Loch Duart Salmon as the winner of the Regional Growth Business Award for Scotland and Northern Ireland. Scotland and Northern Ireland have outstanding local food and drink manufacturers who are rightly proud of their national culinary heritages.
“Loch Duart Salmon is an excellent example of a Scottish business that has taken a premium traditional product worldwide. Their success is proof of their strategy and I wish them every success for the future”.
Trefor Griffith, head of food and beverage at Grant Thornton UK LLP, sponsors of the category, commented:
“Grant Thornton is once again delighted to be supporting the Growth Business category for this year’s Food and Drink Federation Awards. Businesses have been navigating an uncertain environment following the UK’s decision to leave the European Union, so it is great to see dynamic businesses like Loch Duart Salmon unlocking their potential for growth. We’re delighted to be able to celebrate the contribution businesses like Loch Duart Salmon make to their region, the sector and the UK as a whole as we continue to work with leading food and drink firms across the UK.”
