Scottish mountain biker, Kerry MacPhee, from South Uist in The Hebrides, is sponsored by Loch Duart
Hi Everyone,
I’m just back from training camp and racing in Spain. The camp went well and we got some really good quality work in based on three sessions a day consisting of two bike sessions and one gym (apart from on recovery days). At the end of the camp we raced at Copa Catalana, a Category 1 (UCI points up for grabs so a high quality entry), and I had a solid race to finish 8th which was fab! I was 5 minutes behind 1st place and she is 20th in the world so a really promising result given our fatigue levels at the end of the camp. I raced here last year and was much further back, so it really is exciting.
On Sunday 22 March, I will have my first UK race back on familiar territory at Cathkin Braes. I’m quite nervous about this as I haven’t been back since the Commonwealth Games but I’m heading there on Saturday to get reacquainted. The following weekend I have the first British National in Sherwood and then on 18 April I am hoping to head out to Italy for another Category 1 race in Nals in the very north of the country, quite close to the Austrian border. Italy will be good in terms of preparing me for World Cup racing later in the year and also getting some more UCI points under my belt.
I hope all is well with everyone at Loch Duart
Kind regards,
Kerry
